Leyton Orient will host League One rivals Coventry City in the first round of the Capital One Cup after the draw took place earlier today.
Russell Slade’s side made it through to the second round last year and had a trip to Goodison Park to face Premier League side Everton, where they lost 5-0, after defeating Charlton Athletic on penalties in the opening round after the game had finished 1-1 after extra time.
And if they are to progress any further in this year’s competition they will have to get past Steven Presley’s Sky Blues, with the tie scheduled for the week beginning August 5.
In the same round last year, Coventry came up against O’s local rivals Dagenham & Redbridge, winning 1-0 thanks to a 90th minute Kevin Kilbane penalty.
The Ricoh Arena outfit then produced a shock to get past Championship side Birmingham City in the next round 3-2, before losing out 6-1 to Premier League outfit Arsenal.
