Sky Sports to screen Win A Pro Contract series

Leyton Orient will feature in a three-part documentary on Sky Sports this week as part of Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition.

The nationwide competition, in its third season, offered amateur footballers the chance to win a one-year deal with Orient and Swindon and more than 5,000 players entered between May and August last year.

Orient boss Russell Slade snapped up 19-year-old Jack Sherratt for the 2013/14 campaign and now a mini series “Pro Contract - the Football Dream” will cover the journey from start to finish.

It includes action from trial matches, interviews with players and managers and the highs and lows from behind the scenes.

Production company Pergall Media, led by award-winning broadcast journalist Andy Steggall, have produced the series for Sky Sports and Steggall said: “We were thrilled to get the chance to work with Samsung on this season’s Win A Pro Contract.

“The competition offers amateur players the chance to live the dream of becoming a professional footballer. It’s an amazing journey and we’ve documented all aspects of it.

“Sky Sports viewers will get an in-depth look at what it takes to earn a playing contract at a Football League club and the personal stories behind it.”

The first part of the series will air on Sky Sports 1 on Thursday at 5.30pm, with episode two on Friday (7pm) and the final part on Sky Sports 2 on Saturday (7.55pm).
