Orient duo set to miss Swindon trip

McSweeney and Allsop likely to continue

Orient are likely to be without goalkeeper Jamie Jones and defender Lloyd James as they go in search of their first League One points of the season at Swindon Town.

Both missed last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Crawley and Orient boss Russell Slade does not expect them to return at the weekend.

“Lloyd twisted his ankle and could be another week or so and Jamie has got a shoulder injury, so they are unlikely to be back and other players are now staking their claim,” said Slade.

Goalkeeper Ryan Allsop and defender Leon McSweeney look set to keep their place as they face a Swindon side who will be looking to bounce back from last Sunday’s 4-1 defeat at Preston.

“It’s tough, but that’s the cards we have been dealt and it doesn’t get any tougher than Swindon,” admitted Slade.

“But I don’t mind that. That’s a good game for us.”

Without a midweek fixture, the O’s boss has been working hard to put things right on the training ground.

“We have had a little bit more time to prepare,” he said and after scoring just once in their first three league games, Slade knows where his side must improve.

“We reduced Crawley to one or two chances. But that’s the difference, we didn’t create enough ourselves,” he said.

“I think we need a little bit more belief in and around the box and a little bit more quality to try and get ourselves a goal.

“We just need that little bit of belief in the box, players going in and meaning it.

“Whether it’s a run into the box, whether it’s a turn and a finish in the box, whether you’re gambling off your front man, that’s got to happen, because games are very tight.

“The games against Stevenage and Crawley were typical League One games where there is not much in it and you need a bit of belief or a bit of guile to go and get a goal.”
