A one-day music festival will be touring six of London’s east end boroughs on Saturday.
The tour, Urban Symphony, is being led by Hackney based arts group #Artskickers, and will see an orchestra spend the day performing with renowned musicians across the east end.
It will go to Barking town centre first, at 10:30am, before moving to Westfield shopping centre in Stratford at 12pm and Mile End Ecology Pavilion at 1.30pm. It will also visit Dalston, Walthamstow and Wood Green.
Young performers from #Artskickers will play with professional musician, Renell Shaw, and the Street Orchestra, led by dutch conductor Gijs Kramers.
#Artskickers founder Angie Gough said: “This is a unique opportunity for young artists to collaborate with professional artists.
“Bringing their voices and points of view to the piece will develop skills to prepare them for work in the creative industries and encourage them to take pride in their talents.”
The tour signals the opening of entries for the #Artskickers awards, an annual ceremony which recognises performers who encourage local engagement in the arts, often in disadvantaged communities.
