It may not be Brazil, but hundreds dressed in bright Samba colours to get in the Olympic spirit.

More than 120 people put on their colourful clothes to take part in a 5k run and Zumba class at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford, on Saturday.

The day, organised to mark the start of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, included Brazilian music and carnival themed fun run at the site of London 2012.

Coral Nourrice, athletics activator, said: “The day went extremely well, everyone seemed to have fun, the event was made successful with the help of volunteers from activeNewham and Newham Volunteer Police Cadets.

“There were participants of all ages, some mums with pushchairs also.”
