Flames tore through a house in Stratford this afternoon, damaging half of the ground floor.

Four fire engines and about 20 firefighters and officers from Plaistow, Poplar, Leyton and Homerton were called to the scene in Chant Square at 12.16pm.

The blaze was under control by 12.49pm.

No one was injured in the blaze, the cause of which is currently unknown.
