A pioneering scheme to step up activity in the borough has been recognised with a prestigious award.
Beat the Street saw thousands of residents in Newham and other east London boroughs using tap-in technology to increase exercise around the borough through walking, cycling and running.
Last Thursday a gong at the London Sport Awards at Lord’s Cricket Ground celebrated the programme as an innovative approach to utilising investment and resources to increase activity among Londoners.
“With fantastic feedback from the local community in the four boroughs during and after Beat the Street East London, this really is the icing on the cake,” said Intelligent Health founder and CEO Dr William Bird.
“We are all thrilled to have won this award as recognition of the impact that Beat the Street can have on an area in terms of increasing the levels of physical activity, community engagement and the local environment.”
