Staff at Newham University Hospital have helped to raise £540 to support children living with cancer.

A range of sweet treats including brownies, cupcakes, cakes, gingerbread and shortbread baked by the Glen Road, Plaistow hospital’s children’s ward staff were sold to patients, members of the public and other hospital workers.

Specialist play worker Hamera Elahi organised the event and said: “I am thrilled with our success.

“Thank you so much to colleagues across the hospital who baked and brought in cakes.

“We really value all the support that Macmillan offers us and our young patients and it’s fantastic that we can give something back.”
