Staff at Newham University Hospital have paid tribute to the fallen with a memorial service.
It was led by Rev Christopher Oladuji, the Barts Health NHS Trust chaplain.
He said: “Every year at all of our hospital sites, we honour those that sacrificed, fought and fell during the Great War and World War Two.
“The spirit which held the community together during World War Two, when so many bombs fell on Newham is still alive and well - it is why we must never forget those dark times.”
In addition, two minutes’ silence was observed throughout the hospital, and others run by Barts Health, at 11am.
