Junior doctors at Newham University Hospital have gone on strike this morning.
They have joined thousands of their colleagues from across the country in 24 hours of industrial action after last-ditch talks to avert the strike failed.
Junior doctors have been providing emergency care only from 8am this morning and will continue to do so until the same time tomorrow.
A picket line has been set up outside Newham University Hospital’s accident and emergency department this morning, with placards and banners on show.
The dispute centres around the terms of a new contract and the amount of weekend pay.
