The number of people declared jobless in Newham has dropped for the second month in a row.
Latest unemployment figures show 11,239 people were registered as unemployed Jobseekers’ Allowance claimants in May.
This is down by more than 300 people compared to April’s figures but still amounts to seven per cent of the population - double the national average.
However, the borough still has the second highest proportion of benefit claimants in London. Almost 12,000 people in Lambeth are registered unemployed.
