The push to expand Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre’s capacity is making “good progress”, councillors heard.

The centre received more than 900 student applications for the 250 available this September.

According to Jackie Belton, executive director of operations, whose statement was read at East Ham Town Hall’s cabinet meeting, said: “It is vitally important that the Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre reaches a role of 500 students as soon as possible.

Implementation is expected to begin in the fourth week of March.
