A blossoming new orchard is on the horizon for West Ham Park thanks to a grant from the City Bridge Trust.
Youngsters from the 11 Newham West Scout Group planted a variety of apple, plum, damson, plum, damson, pear, apricot and cherry trees.
The scouts braved what were chilly conditions on February 11 and 12 to install a total of 66 trees.
Billy Dove, chairman of the City Bridge Trust, said: “Getting young people involved in community projects is always to be welcomed.
“This is an important project to promote fantastic community spirit and I hope the youngsters will continue over the years to be involved as the fruit trees blossom into a sustainable orchard.”
