Westfield may have jumped the mark with their Christmas lights, but the rest of Newham is soon to follow suit.
Festivities in the borough officially begin with the first switch-on, which this year will take place outside the town hall in East Ham on November 24.
A massive Christmas tree usually features in the celebrations, and there’s sure to be some mince pies included in at least one of the switch-ons.
On November 29 the switch-on will be preceeded with a children’s lantern procession from Stratford Library, and there’ll be a winter wonderland with Santa’s grotto and choirs to keep everyone entertained.
The libraries will be getting involved with switch-ons at North Woolwich, Beckton Globe, Custom House and Plaistow, and there’ll also be lights at Maryland Point outside the station.
The final switch-on, a mere 10 days before Christmas Day, will take place at Queens Market in Green Street on December 15.
