An Easter Egg with a religious message is being promoted by the borough’s bishop as a sweet treat that could “seriously improve your health”.

The Bishop of Chelmsford Stephen Cottrell, head of the diocese that covers Newham, is urging parents who want to teach their children the Christian meaning of Easter to buy the church-approved Real Easter Egg.

The milk chocolate egg aims to teach children the religious significance of this time of year by including an Easter activity pack in its box.

Bishop Cottrell said: “Every box contains a powerful ingredient that is missing from all other Easter eggs. Inside the box you will discover the love story of Easter itself.

“The Real Easter Egg is worth receiving. As Easter approaches I am issuing a health warning about eggs. Real Easter Eggs could seriously improve your health.”
