Media students from Newham Sixth Form College picked up industry tips from a BAFTA award-winning director.

Bruce Goodison, who directed My Murder, and actor Masieh Zarrien were quizzed by sixth-formers about the technical aspects of film producation.

The industry professionals also gave tips about breaking into the film industry and their own journey into film while talking abou their new film, Leave to Remain.

Eighteen-year-old Sadat, who grew up in Pakistan but now lives in Manor Park, said: “Hearing Bruce and Mesieh talk today has definitely inspired me to continue with filmmaking, and has furthered my belief that these things can happen.

“I have a passion for creating things, and when you make a film you can make something that in real life you may not be able to do.”

The session formed part of the Into Film ‘Behind-The-Scenes’ event, which enables young people from all backgrounds to have access to a creative professional whilst still at school.
