Newham’s fire cadets have celebrated a year of learning new skills with a passing out parade.
The 14 to 17-year-olds took part in a special ceremony at East Ham fire station, having spent the past academic year learning firefighting techniques, fire safety and prevention and first aid.
Dep Asst Comm Al Perez, who attended the ceremony, said: “Congratulations to the cadets for their success and achievement in completing their first year with London Fire Brigade.
“Fire cadets are integral to the Brigade and it is fantastic to see them fulfil their potential.
“It provides incredible experience and a chance to learn life skills. It’s also a way for us to introduce firefighting as a possible career to young people from different communities and backgrounds across London.”
The fire cadets are free to join and anyone interested in finding out more about taking part should visit london-fire.gov.uk
