A group of teenagers learned about the world of finance during a special visit to an influential British recruitment company.

Thirteen Newham College students, aged 16 to 19, went behind-the-scenes at SThree Plc to see how they recruit for City of London businesses.

It was part of a day-long event organised by the business-education charity, Career Academies UK, and aimed at developing the employability of around 1,300 students from across the UK.

Moore Giwa, Head of the College’s business courses, said: “We have hard working students who achieve good results in A Levels and other courses. We believe that the more they see life in exclusive work places like the City of London, the more it will inspire them to be their best.”

The day involved around 1,300 students from across the UK, as well as over 75 leading London-based employers such as AstraZeneca, AXA, Barclays, Clifford Chance LLP, Lloyds Banking Group, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Fujitsu, RSA, Royal Mail, Santander and SThree Plc.

After visiting SThree Plc in the morning all the groups made their way to the Royal Festival Hall, where they got the chance to network with other young people from across the UK, who took part in the programme and participated in business-related activities to boost their employability skills.
