Rollercoaster rides and huge scoops of ice-cream were top of the list for children given the chance to spend a free day by the seaside in Southend.

More than 200 youngsters – 100 children on each day – enjoyed activities at Adventure Island amusement park and Sea Life Adventure on Friday and Saturday last week.

All attendees received a free lunch and ice-cream, while mini golf also provided a fun activity for budding sports stars.

The trip was organised by East Ham children’s organisation Ambition, Aspire, Achieve along with East Community Transport.

Kevin Jenkins, founder of Ambition, Aspire, Achieve, said: “They really enjoyed it and the weather was great.”
