A drug and alcohol treatment provider is holding a free alcohol awareness conference for people in the borough.
Canning Town’s Change, Grow, Live (CGL) will be raising awareness of alcohol misuse at a conference to showcase the work of CGL Newham Rise at its office in Beckton Road on Wednesday from 9.30am to 1pm.
Guest speakers will include CGL director Vicki Markiewicz, Saidat Khan of rehab centre Nelson Trust, plus the drugs and alcohol charity AdFam.
Alcohol Awareness Week runs from November 14-20. This’s year campaign focuses on alcohol and health, examining the relationship between drink and illnesses such as cancer, depression, diabetes, hypertension, brain damage and dementia.
