A care home for the elderly has been given the seal of approval by inspectors.

Floron Residential Home for the Elderly in Forest Gate was found ‘Good’ in a Care Quality Commission report, winning recognition for being effective, caring, well-led and responsive.

However, the report also found that safety in the Upton Lane centre “requires improvement”.

“There was not always accurate record keeping with regard to medicines,” it reads, noting though that medicine was stored securely. The service also had safeguarding procedures in place which staff understood and were knowledgeable about.

The recent inspections found 17 of the recently rated care homes and homecare agencies across London have been rated as Good, nine ‘Require Improvement’, and only one was found ‘Inadequate’.

“We should all be confident that our local social care providers will deliver safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care,” said Segun Oladokun, CQC’s Head of Adult Social Care Inspection in London.

“If we find that a service requires improvement, we will expect them to deliver a full plan setting out how they will address the issues that have been identified. We will share our findings with local commissioners, and we will return in due course to check that the required improvements have been made.

“For services found to be Inadequate, we will consider taking further action in order to protect the health and wellbeing of local service users.”
