You’ll soon be seeing this sculpture as you walk by the Royal Docks.

Planning permission for the three metre tall installation, entitled Inhibition Point, has been approved by Newham Council.

Created by James Balmforth, it will be located at Western Gateway, on the south side of the dock.

The sculpture is part of The Line, an art project placing various works along a route between North Greenwich and Stratford, bringing existing contemporary and modern sculpture to east London.

In the decision report, the sculpture has been deemed to “provide continued interest and would be a welcomed addition to the Royal Docks.”

It adds: “The sculpture has the potential to attract visitors to the area and provide points of interest and potential activity along the Docklands.”
