Team Singapore have followed the USA and will use the University of East London (UEL) as their base next year’s Olympic Games.
Representatives from the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) visited the Stratford Campus to sign the agreement for athletes to use new facilities as their recovery centre and accommodation for medical support staff. Welcoming the deal, UEL Pro Vice-Chancellor Selena Bolingbroke said the partnership is also an opportunity to continue beyond 2012.
SSC’s Chief of Sports Development Bob Gambardella, said UEL’s close proximity to the Athletes’ Village and great facilities allow them to provide “seamless and holistic” recovery support.
