WORK is set to begin next month on a new bridge and pathway along the River Lee Navigation.
It will allow pedestrians and cyclists to avoid the busy junction of the A11 and A12, on the Stratford-Bow border.
The 2.4 million project is being funded by London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, British Waterways, the Olympic Delivery Authority, Transport for London, Design for London and Walk London.
British Waterways is managing the design and construction of the scheme, which should take around five months.
The new 300-metre section of pathway will allow walkers and bikers to travel uninterrupted from the River Thames over 28 miles into the Hertfordshire countryside and provide a traffic-free route to the Olympic Park.
