Ian Prout, who lives in Mortlake Road, was taking his dog for a walk on the green opposite his house at around 10.30pm when he spotted four mysterious shapes in the sky.

After inspecting them for half an hour, with the help of his daughter and a friend, he came to the conclusion – they must be UFOs.

“I was outside my house when I looked up in the sky,” the 68-year-old said.

“There were four big white blobs. At first they were dancing around and moving about.

“Whatever they were, they stayed there motionless for about half an hour and then we lost them.”

Unsure what to believe, Ian sought a second opinion from his wife, Susan.

“She just passed it off as total rubbish,” he said.

“I tried to keep an open mind because I’ve seen UFOs before.

“I’d like to believe we’re not alone.”

Ian, who’s a keen sci-fi programme viewer, believes his first UFO sighting was as a child.

“I saw them a long time ago, when my dad was alive,” he said.

“He was a Major in the army and was stationed at Larkhill. Our garden overlooked Stonehenge and it was there I saw them. They looked like proper spaceships.”

Ian insisted his love of sci-fi shows didn’t influence what he saw – he said the photos and videos his daughter took show four unmistakable figures in the sky.

“I was a bit sceptical in case we were making something out of nothing,” he said.

“There could have been something going on in London at the time, but I hardly think so judging from the pictures.

“Maybe it goes back to my childhood, but I do think with all those planets there must be something out there.

“I believe there’s a lot of things we don’t understand or people fail to realise.”

The retired engineer, who has lived at the house with his wife, daughter and grandchildren for almost 30 years, said he’s never seen anything in the area like this before.
