Mo Farah has returned to the scene of his Olympics triumph to back Sadiq Khan’s London is Open campaign.

The pair joined forces at the London Stadium to star in a promotional video, which aims to spread the message that despite Britain voting to leave the EU, the capital is united and open for business.

The Mayor of London emphasised the need for sports stars and fans to contribute to the city’s success.

He said: “As well as staging some of the world’s greatest cultural and artistic showcases, we are renowned for hosting top-calibre sporting events and are looking forward to holding the 2017 World Athletics and ParaAthletics Championships next year.

“That is why it is so important that we send the message, loud and clear, that London is open.”

Farah, currently preparing to defend his 10,000m title in Rio this weekend, added: “London is my home town and the greatest city in the world!

“I will never forget the support I got back in 2012 – the roar of the crowd in the Olympic Stadium, but also the whole city getting behind Team GB and driving us on to victory.”
