Around 40 firefighters tackled a blaze at two terraced houses in North Woolwich this afternoon.

Six engines attended the scene in Milk Street following reports of the flames just before 2.30pm.

The roof, first and second floors of an end-of-terrace house were damaged by the time flames were under control an hour and a half later, as well as a tenth of the property’s ground floor.

No injuries were reported, according to a spokeswoman for London Fire Bridge.

Crews from East Ham, Plaistow, Barking, and Stratford fire stations attended.

Firefighters are looking into the cause of the blaze.
