The O’s host Sheffield United in the third round of the Capital One Cup tonight, and now is the time for them to start improving their home form, says boss Russell Slade and midfielder Jobi McAnuff.

The O’s have played eight of their first 11 games this season away from Brisbane Road, and while they remain unbeaten on their travels, they are yet to pick up a home win.

And both Slade and McAnuff now feel they have to end that wait as they host their League One rivals from South Yorkshire in the third round of the Capital One Cup tonight.

“From our point of view there has definitely not been enough points at home to complement what has been a good away season so far,” said McAnuff.

“We have got a good game Tuesday. It’s another tough one but we have a chance to progress. Hopefully that can really kick us on in terms of the league form going into Saturday.”

Slade added: “We have been magnificent away from home and our form is great but at home we really have to turn it around.

“There are big games for us, the Cup one and then Rochdale on Saturday, who have done really well in the league.”

McAnuff feels sides are setting up defensively against the O’s, which has made it harder for the hosts to come out on top.

However, the former West Ham midfielder believes it is down to the Brisbane Road side to find a way round that.

“Teams are coming and making it hard for us in getting men behind the ball and making us break them down whereas away from home there’s probably a bit more space to play,” he added.

“We are a very good team on the counter attack and from our point of view it’s just finding that key to success at home and probably being a little more patient then we have done with the ball and trying to open teams up a little bit more.

“I think off the back of last season teams are now coming and they are happy to get a point taking on a team that nearly went up last season.

“It’s a different mentality and something that we have to deal with because of where we want to be. Teams are going to come and make it difficult for us.”

Lloyd James made a return to action from injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Scunthorpe United, while Gary Sawyer continues to make a recovery from tendinitis.

The game is too soon for goalkeeper Adam Legzdins (finger), and the only long-term absentee is striker Kevin Lisbie (shoulder).

But boss Russell Slade can once again rotate his players against the Blades, with this their 12th game inside the first two months of the season.

The Blades go into the game on the back of a 5-2 loss at Swindon Town on Saturday, and have no injury concerns.
