The launch of A new ferry service running between Gallions Reach at Beckton and Thamesmead was confirmed by London Mayor Boris Johnson last night.
Along with a promised road tunnel between the Royal Docks at Silvertown and Greenwich Peninsular the ferry is viewed as a big way to ease congestion either side of the river.
The ferry is planned to launch by 2017.
