The overall winner of Local Business Accelerators, the local press campaign to boost small business, will be revealed at an awards ceremony today.

The winner will take home a host of prizes including mentoring from the campaign’s ambassador Deborah Meaden, a free local newspaper advertising campaign designed by a top London ad agency, and £10k cash from the Business Growth Fund.

The winner of LBA The People’s Choice, the public online video vote, will also be announced at the event which will be attended by all the finalist businesses, mentors, partner newspapers, and publishers.

Among the finalists is Hardev Singh, 59, from Manor Park who, with his son Kuldip, 31, has started a spicy chilli sauce from the family’s garden shed. They are the only entry from London to reach the final of the Local Business Accelerators campaign.

The awards, which will be held at Millbank Tower in London, is run by the Newspaper Society and local press industry, LBA aims to highlight the ability of local newspapers to accelerate small businesses through advertising.
