A man was taken to hospital after a house fire in East Ham this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the home in Vicarage Lane at around 3.06pm.
The man had evacuated before the firefighters and police arrived and he was treated for smoke inhalation by the ambulance crews at the scene before being taken to an east London hospital.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said that half of the ground floor was damaged by the fire.
Four fire crews brought the fire under control by 3.46 and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
