CCTV footage of a man being robbed at a cash machine has been released in a bid to catch the perpetrator.
The mugging took place outside Sainsbury’s supermarket, at the Carnarvon Road junction in Romford Road, at around 6.40am on December 14.
The 46-year-old victim, who was on his way to work, had just entered his card and PIN when a suspect approached him from behind, put a piece of paper over the screen and quickly selected £200 for withdrawal.
Despite attempting to remove his card, the victim was pushed aside by the suspect – who then grabbed the money and fled along Carnavon Road.
The suspect is described as an Asian man of stocky build, 6ft tall and aged between 25 and 30 years old.
He was wearing a dark jacket, a dark baseball cap, blue jeans, a white top and black and white trainers. He was seen earlier riding on a green BMX-style bike.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man shown on CCTV or who witnessed the incident.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 199208 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
