A man was badly injured on the main road outside East Ham Underground station late last night.
The pedestrian in his 50s was crossing at the bus stop opposite the station entrance in High Street North where a bus was waiting when he was involved in the accident with a car travelling north at about 10pm.
London air ambulance paramedics and the fire brigade were at the scene. The man had head injuries and was treated by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to hospital.
Police were called to High Street North by the ambulance service.
“The man’s injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said. “The driver stopped and made himself known to officers when they arrived. No arrests have been made and no offences disclosed.”
The road was closed off while police began an investigation and reopened soon after midnight.
