Police have released the name of the man who was hit by a train at Forest Gate railway station two weeks ago.
Kieran Tison, 21, of Osborne Road, Newham, died following the incident on Monday, September 23, at around 9.30pm but was not formally identified until Wednesday, October 2.
His mother reported him missing two days after he was last seen and the family spent a week searching for him before they were told the tragic news.
Kieran was a former go-karting champion who was tipped to follow in the shoes of his inspiration Lewis Hamilton.
He took to the track for the first time in 2008 and won four championships in his first year and finished second in the Junior Club series at the prestigious Buckmore Park, where Formula One stars Hamilton and Jenson Button burst on to the scene.
Police said the death was being treated as non-suspicious.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to Forest Gate station on Monday, 23 September following a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended but the man, believed to be in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
