A man has died after a fire at a Plaistow flat.
Fire crews from Plaistow and Stratford fire stations recovered him using an internal staircase, after being alerted to the Selwyn Road blaze at 9.49pm on Saturday.
London Ambulance Service took him to hospital and the fire was under control by 11.16pm – but the man was pronounced dead after arriving.
The first-floor flat of the converted house was partly damaged and police are treating the fire as non-suspicious.
