A post mortem is being held tonight (Tues) into the deaths of two men from east London killed in a car smash on the M1 motorway yesterday.
Two BMWs were said to be in a high speed collision just south of the Watford Junction 5 at 2.40am, which caused the motorway to be shut in both directions.
The driver of one car and his front-seat passenger died at the scene.
Both men, aged 22 and 24, are from east London, Hertfordshire police later confirmed.
Two other passengers in the vehicle, both men, suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital in London.
Two men in the second car were also injured and taken to hospital in Watford.
Police are appealing to other motorists who may have witnessed the crash to contact Herts Police on the non-emergency 101.
