40 employees from London City Airport took on the challenge of completing five projects in five days as part of their efforts for the week.
The volunteers took part in a variety of activities with community organisations in the airport’s first ever Volunteers’ Week.
Some painted a church hall, created community sensory garden while others got stuck into developing a financial and marketing strategy for a local equestrian centre or activities with local elderly residents. Across the five days, the volunteers will give 320 hours of their time to the projects.
Liam McKay, Head of CSR and Public Affairs at London City Airport said: “National Volunteers’ Week provides the opportunity for us to inspire our workforce to show their support for the local community and get involved in initiatives. By setting a target of five projects in five days we will be able to generate quick results and really make a difference to the organisations we are helping.”
London City Airport encourages volunteering throughout the year, with employees having given up 2,300 hours of their time since 2010.
