If you are considering treating your mum to luxurious body lotion, a bottle of Baileys or a pot of honey this Mothering Sunday - and you are planning on travelling through an airport - then you may need to think again.

London City Airport has released a top ten list of gifts that may end up in the hands of a security guard, rather than a deserving mother, if passengers attempt to take them through security.

Items on the list include: hand and body lotion, aromatherapy oils, alcohol, perfume and bubble bath.

Restrictions mean that no more than 100ml of liquids and gels can be taken in hand luggage and liquids have to be placed in plastic bags, which are limited to one per passenger.

The airport advises all passengers to check their requirements with their individual airlines before flying to avoid disappointment.

For more information on hand luggage restrictions visit London City Airport’s website and go to the Security & Baggage section.
