Staff members at London City Airport gave up 315 hours of their time to help out charities and projects across Newham.

During the first week of June, 41 employees from a number of airport departments worked on five projects at locations in Beckton, Canning Town, East Ham, and West Silvertown.

Volunteers got to grips with gardening, painting, and working with the elderly throughout the project.

London City Airport’s Head of Public Affairs Liam McKay said: “London City Airport is proud of its ties to the local community and we were very pleased that so many of our staff gave up their time to take part.

“There were a great selection of projects to get involved with and we are very thankful to each charity/organisation for having us.

“We are already looking forward to the 2016 edition and further strengthening our ties with the local area.”

The initiative was inspired by Volunteers Week.
