The chairman of London City Airport is trundling towards the departure lounge after a year-and-a-half in the job.

Sir Terry Morgan, who joined the airport in March last year, will take up a new role as Chairman of HS2 Ltd, one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects.

Over his short-haul stint at the Hartmann Road, Royal Docks airport, Sir Terry commenced the City Airport Development Programme, as well as securing new airlines and flight routes.

“London City Airport is one of the most important transport assets in London, providing vital air connectivity to the capital,” he said.

“I am very confident that the airport will continue to flourish under the board, shareholders and leadership team, fulfilling its huge potential for London and the UK over the coming years.”

Airport CEO Robert Sinclair called him an “excellent” chairman and “one of the most respected, experienced and well-connected industry leaders in the UK”.
