The 85,000 London 2012 Olympic Stadium at Stratford has been shortlisted for this years prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize, which celebrates the best of new British architecture.

It will go head-to-head with six other buildings from across the UK for architecture’s highest accolade and a �20,000 prize.

They include Maggie’s Cancer Centre in Glasgow, the Hepworth Wakefield gallery in Yorkshire, and the New Court Rothschild Bank in London

But the stadium is only second favourite to take the prize money.
