LONDON 2012’s Handball Arena is welll underway to completition, sporting a sustainably-sourced copper roof, more than half of the 6,500 multi-coloured seats in place and progress leaping ahead on the sprung wooden court surface,
The venue at Stratford’s Olympic Park, is on track to be finished in the spring, It will host handball up to the quarter finals along with the fencing discipline of the Modern Pentathlon. During the Paralympics it will host Goalball.
In legacy, the Arena will be used as a flexible space capable of seating up to 7,500 spectators, depending on the event, from international competition to community team sports and boxing. A health and fitness club with changing facilities and a cafe are also planned.
