Cllr Lester Hudson was named as the borough’s deputy mayor as well as in the role of cabinet member for finance, regeneration and planning.
His fellow Wall End ward councillor Frances Clarke was appointed as cabinet member for financial inclusion and health promotion.
Her daughter, Cllr Ellie Robinson, will take responsibility for oneSource, the partnership between Newham and Havering, as well as being the deputy cabinet lead for building communities.
The latter is a role shared with Cllr Forhad Hussain, who will also be cabinet member for commercial opportunities and community lead for Plaistow.
Newly elected councillor Ken Clark, who helped the mayor secure a fourth term as his election agent, will be the cabinet member for building communities and public affairs.
Two East Ham South councillors have been appointed with similar responsibilities, with Cllr Quentin Peppiatt taking charge as the cabinet member for children and young people, including safeguarding, and Cllr Lakmini Shah his deputy, as well as being community lead for East Ham.
Cllr Jo Corbett has been named as cabinet member for equalities, while Cll Unmesh Desai is the member for crime and anti social behaviour.
The new cabinet has four female members, a significant jump from the previous cabinet where Cllr Robinson was the only woman in the seven appointments.
