Volunteers will be counting the votes for the mayoral candidate from 9am, with the result expected just before lunchtime.
After lunch, they’ll move onto the councillor votes, with results for each ward coming in throughout the afternoon.
The Recorder will be live at the count from 9am, keeping you up-to-date with results as they come in on our live blog – find the link at the bottom of this page.
Or, follow us on Twitter @NewhamRecorder, where we’ll be tweeting the results too.
Newham has had a Labour council since its inception in 1964, and since 2002 Sir Robin Wales has been at its’ helm.
At least one thing is certain to change in this election, with Labour’s Rokhsana Fiaz, former Custom House councillor, in the running for mayor.
Follow the blog to see how she fares, along with the rest of the councillors and mayoral candidates.
