West Ham MP visits transforming Aquatics Centre
Stratford’s Aquatics Centre met its local MP Lyn Brown last week when she dropped in to look at construction work on the Olympic venue.
The visit was organised by Open Doors who invite the public to look at transforming sites including the Aquatics Centre which is being turned into a public leisure facility for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The West Ham MP met with project director Stuart Fraser who led the original construction team and is now overseeing the legacy works.
Ms Brown said: “It was a great pleasure to visit the Aquatics Centre to see the important work taking place to turn this fabulous Olympic venue into a public facility.
“I was impressed to learn that they are now recycling and reusing parts of the building and site no longer needed. Excess seats will go to other stadiums and water tanks to Africa.
“If this happens well, we will really will have had the most sustainable Games ever.
“I saw the start of this process, with the temporary stands being dismantled and removed and was told that this work will take approximately fifteen months to complete.
