West Ham MP Lyn Brown carried on a family tradition this weekend by selling poppies to raise money for the Armed Forces and their families.

Ms Brown’s father, Joe, raised a considerable amount for the Royal British Legion selling poppies for over 20 years.

Not as mobile as he once was, Ms Brown stood in for him on Saturday morning outside Morrisons supermarket in The Grove, Stratford to carry on his Remembrance legacy along with her Yorkshire terrier Cara.

Ms Brown said: “Remembrance is about more than two minutes each year.

“I don’t have as much time to volunteer as I would like, but I am pleased to make this contribution on behalf of Dad and to show my support for the vital work of the Royal British Legion.”
