Potentially cancer-causing skin lightening creams were seized by Trading Standards officers before they could reach Canning Town.
Some 2,500 tubs of cosmetics, with labels marked Maxi Light, have been confiscated by Newham Council.
The creams contain the carcinogenic substance Hydroquinone, which is banned in Europe.
Cllr Unmesh Desai, executive member for crime and antisocial behaviour, said: “Parents and young people must be very vigilant for these creams.”
To report sightings, contact Consumer Direct on 01622 626 520 or 01622 626 523 and ask for Newham Trading Standards.
