X-Factor contestants LMA Choir are set to headline the Stratford Shopping Centre's Christmas lights switch on.

The Liverpool Media Academy singers went from the judges’ houses stage, to the live shows, and will now appear at the Broadway based centre’s festive extravaganza.

A Stratford Shopping Centre spokeswoman said: “The countdown has officially begun and to kick off the celebrations we are bringing some festive cheer to our Christmas countdown.

“After what is sure to be a spectacular performance, LMA Choir will end the evening with the highly anticipated Christmas light switch-on.”

The first ever choir to appear on the ITV show are expected to perform new and classic hits before flicking the switch to turn on this year’s lights.

X-Factor contestant, Tommy Ludford, and Goggle Box’s Sandi Bogle are also due to bring some festive cheer to the Central Square stage too.

The theme at Saturday’s free event is based on The Greatest Showman film and should include a circus ringmaster, stilt walkers, Mary Poppins and the Grinch.

The festive fun runs from 4pm to 7pm.
