Lights will be switched off in Newham Dockside tonight as part of a country-wide initiative to mark the moment that the UK entered the First World War 100 years ago.
The centenary will be commemorated with the switching off of all non-emergency lights between 10pm and 11pm.
The campaign has been organised by 14-18 NOW, the official cultural programme for the First World War Centenary commemorations.
