Captain keen to get O’s out of the rut they currently find themselves in.

Leyton Orient skipper Nathan Clarke is hoping for a successful return to his roots as the O’s travel to Barnsley for a vital League One encounter.

Orient go into Saturday’s fixture in the relegation zone after their 2-1 home loss to Peterborough last weekend, while their Oakwell hosts sit in 15th – four points ahead of Fabio Liverani’s side.

And Yorkshire-born Clarke is eager for the O’s to rediscover their fine away form, which had seen them remain unbeaten until a 3-0 loss at Port Vale in October.

“It’s just before Christmas and it will be nice to get my family to watch and to be back home in Yorkshire, so hopefully we can get the right result,” said Clarke.

“We are desperate to get the home form back up to scratch, but we need to get the away form back to what it was at the start of the season.”

Orient have won just two of their last 10 games, and Clarke admits they have to work even harder to get themselves out of the rut they currently find themselves in.

“We are in a little bit of a rut, but we need to dig deep, get everyone back fit and healthy and push on,” he added.

“We are still fighting as hard as ever and we still want to prove not only to the fans, but also to ourselves that we are more than good enough to climb the table.”
